For The Perfectly Glazed Ham.
There’s something sacred about a Christmas ham - that slow caramelisation of glaze turning glossy and golden, the scent of clove and citrus filling the kitchen, music humming in the background, someone sneaking a slice before it hits the table.
Creating the perfect ham is easier than you think - all it takes is our Ham Glaze, a little orange juice, and a slow roast that fills the house with that warm, sweet Christmas smell.
You’ll need:
1 x Butcher and the Chef Free-Range Ham, rind off, fat scored, cloved and ready for love.
How to make it magic:
Line a large flat baking dish with 3 layers of foil and 2 layers of baking paper - trust us, your cleanup self will thank-you.
Set oven to 140°C.
Brush your ham with a nice thick layer of Ham Glaze.
Cover with 2 layers of baking paper, then 2 layers of aluminium foil tight and snug.
Bake for 1.5 hours (whole ham). 45 mins (half ham).
Glaze it three times over the next 1.5 hours/45mins until it’s golden, glossy, and smells like Christmas morning.
Watch for hot spots — rotate if needed to keep that glaze caramelising evenly.
The scent of orange, spice, and slow-roasted glaze drifting through the kitchen, that’s Christmas.
Simple, golden, and beautifully sticky.
Finish off with a drizzle of leftover glaze, stand back, and let the oohs and aaas roll in.
Enjoy!
